Dems want to increase the Debt Limit…Again!

Did you hear the latest out of Washington D.C. and our Government?
Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner and the Obama administration is already pushing for a higher debt ceiling. Remember last year when we went through all the threats of a government shut-down, and Obama threatened (in an off-handed way) to withhold social security and veterans checks? Well, get ready for more of the same!
Geithner has already fired a shot across the Republicans bow saying, ““We hope they do it without the drama and the pain and the damage they caused the country last July…”
The amazing thing to me is that the amount of “pain and drama” caused is shared more by the Dems than the Repubs, based on Obama’s 2008 campaign promises to get government spending under control and get the budget balanced! (A little side note to all those throwing dollars at Obama because of his “stance on gay marriage”, beware and pay attention to his actions, both past and present, not just his words! It would appear as if lies have been told to nearly every “group” or “division” of American society.) The Republicans that supposedly caused all this “pain and drama” were elected to slow down and reverse the out-of-control government spending, not to go along with whatever the President wanted. This is the sum of good government
On March 04, 1801 Thomas Jefferson gave the first of his Presidential Inaugural addresses.
After listing some of the items the federal government is responsible for, then he asks, “With all these blessings, what more is necessary to make us a happy and a prosperous people?”
He then answers that question with “Still one thing more, fellow-citizens–a wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government; and this is necessary to close the circle of our felicities.”
Hopefully, Americas Next President will understand and embrace this more than the last few American presidents have.
Romney misled business when running for governor

In the New Your Times online edition, yesterday (01 Oct, 2011) “Seeking Taxes, Romney Went After Business” (by Michael Barbaro) appeared, highlighting some of the ways Governor Romney’s administration went about closing deficits in the Massachusetts state budget.
The basis of the article is that Romney went after “loopholes” that businesses in the state enjoyed and both Romney and most of the Democrats claimed was not right and not fair. To me, this points out one of the greatest issues with politics, and the reporting of politics in America today. (more…)
Freedom Not Worth Having

“Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.” – Mahatma Gandhi
When you combine this idea with George Washington’s warning against putting party before country, well it’s not too hard to see that as a nation, the United States has veered dramatically from the course our founding father’s set for the it.
They created a nice plan, including rules to run the government with, and the people we have elected, or allowed to be elected, just couldn’t bring themselves to follow that plan! Maybe America’s Next President will get us moving back in the direction of the intended path! (more…)
Fools talk because they have to say something
Have you noticed our current President (Barack Obama) seems to think nearly everything can be fixed with a speech? No real details given, just some fairly general speech about what the overall picture should be or what he want’s in general.
Well, one only needs to go (once again) to the founding fathers of this country to find something that addresses this phenomenon. This gem by Ben Franklin says it perfectly. “Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something.” Plato said something pretty similar, so you know this is not just an American issue.
This is a recurring theme throughout history and it seems to be exacerbated when politics are involved. Please people, let’s elect folks that know when to stop speaking and start doing for the good of the country, not just the good of one faction of one party! A return to the idea of small government, personal liberty the ability to pursue one’s dreams will do wonders for this America!
Let’s elect someone as Americas Next President who knows the difference between when to give a speech and when to leap into action.

Political Games
A couple of fine examples of political games have been seen in the last week.
Last week, President Obama decided that he should give his newest “jobs” speech on Wednesday, 07 Sept., 2011 to a joint house of Congress. “Yeah, so?” you thought to yourself. “What’s so important about that date?” (more…)
U.S. Credit Rating Downgraded
Posted in: 2012 Presidential Election, America's Next President, Barack Obama, Debt Limit, Founding Fathers, Personal Liberty, Personal Prosperity, U.S. Credit Rating Tags: 2012 Presidential Election, America's Next President, Barack Obama, Debt Limit, Founding Fathers, Personal Liberty, Personal Prosperity
Here is a quick question for you.
What U.S. President was in office when the United States credit rating was downgraded for the first time in history?
The answer is our current president! That’s right, during the evening of 05 August, 2011, Standard & Poor’s downgraded the U.S. credit rating from AAA to AA+.
This is what happens when you keep spending dramatically more money than you bring in. If and when a “regular” citizen gets in debt beyond their income level, their line of credit gets shut off or severely restricted. (more…)
Thomas Jefferson Said…
“…I know nothing more important to inculcate into the minds of young people than the wisdom, the honor, and the blessed comfort of living within their income…”
In other words, the most important part of life is to live within your means! If you want to improve your lifestyle, first increase your income, then enjoy your new lifestyle.
This is part of a much larger speech he gave at the time, but it sums up his, and most of America’s founding fathers beliefs, that the worst thing our nation could do was to go into debt and saddle those not responsible for that debt, with that debt.
They knew that for a nation, deficit spending was even easier than it is for an individual. And, that kind of spending ALWAYS has to be repaid!
Who repays it?
Two enemies of the people

“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.“ Thomas Jefferson
With all the debate these days about the debt limit and the “up and down” or the “clean” vote last night (01 June 2011) I thought this quote was quite relevant. Congress overwhelmingly voted to NOT increase the debt ceiling without mandating spending cuts.
One of the things the founding fathers was very serious about was keeping the nation from going into debt…and if debt was necessary, they wanted it paid off as soon as possible!
The founding fathers expected this nation to promote Liberty, Freedom and Prosperity (for the individual) above all else. They knew that if all people had Liberty, the nation had it’s Freedom and all individuals had the ability to Prosper, then the nation would prosper also, both in money and in reputation.

Here on AmericasNextPresident.com we try hard to reconcile today’s and tomorrow’s presidential actions with what the constitution allows and our founding fathers wanted for these United States of America. (more…)
