Newt to End Bid for Presidency May 1st?

Newt, Thank You for the willingness to throw your hat in the ring, share your ideas and visions with us, and showing the rest of the Republicans how to be better debaters!

It’s being reported that Newt Gingrich will officially end his run for the Presidency on 01 May, 2012.  That will leave just Ron Paul and Mitt Romney on the Republican side, Barack Obama on Democrats side and, it looks like Gary Johnson on the Libertarian side.

This comes as a result of the poor showing he had during the most recent primary day (24 May, 2012).  Newt was really expecting to do much better, especially in Delaware, where he received 27% of the vote to Mitt Romney’s 56%.  Newt, we will miss your constant flow of ideas and your refusal to take the standard amount of “crap” from those in the mainstream media!

Newt has already announced he will be backing Mitt Romney in an effort to unify the Republican party and defeat Barack Obama in November 2012′s Presidential Election.

Romney Wins in Landslides in All 5 States

Well, Mitt Romney won big in all 5 states tonight.  New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Delaware all voted overwhelmingly in favor of Mr. Romney.

I believe him being the nominee before tonight was pretty certain, but after tonight I would say that Mitt Romney will indeed by the nominee to take on Barack Obama in the 2012 Presidential Election this November.  With the size of these wins, the lions share of the 231 delegates available tonight went to Mitt, which would push his delegate count well over 800…not too much further from him to go to win the nomination on the first ballot.

Five Northeastern States are Holding Primaries Today

Hi again and welcome back.

Today is the 24th of April, 2012 and the day that 5 Northeastern states hold their primary elections to help decide the Republican nominee to represent the party this November, and take on Barack Obama (and the Democrats) in the Election of America’s Next President.

The 5 states holding elections are Rhode Island, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New York.  At stake is a total of 231 delegates, with the breakdown looking like this: (more…)

Rick Santorum Suspends Presidential Campaign

Hi and welcome back,

I don’t know if you have heard this yet, but Rick Santorum has suspended his presidential campaign.

I don’t fault him at all for this, as one of his daughters is having health issues and he wants to be with her and doing all he can for her and his family.

Almost everyone in the media is telling you this clears the way for Mitt Romney to start campaigning against Barack Obama, and it probably does.  (more…)

3 Contests, 3 Wins for Romney

Yesterday was the third (3rd) of April, 2012 and the day Washington, D.C., Maryland and Wisconsin all held their Republican Primary elections.  Given the states (and district) this should come as no surprise, but Mitt Romney won all three elections…and by pretty comfortable margins!

Let’s recap the Washington D.C. primary first:

Romney was chosen on 70%  of the ballots, with Ron Paul getting 12% and Newt Gingrich garnered 11%.  Rick Santorum failed to get a spot on the D.C. ballot for this primary.  By taking first and Santorum not participating, Mitt was able to pad his lead in the delegate count without expending too many resources for those delegates.  He has been awarded 16 delegates for now and there are still 3 delegates to be had from this race.

In Maryland, Santorum did make the ballot, but the story was more of the same.  Mitt Romney was the choice to represent Republicans in the November 2012 Presidential election on 49% of the ballots.  Rick Santorum was the choice for 29% of the voters.  Newt Gingrich received 11% and Ron Paul was the choice for 10% of the voters.  Mitt added 37 delegates to his total in this race.

Last on the night, but certainly not least, was Wisconsin.  To complete the sweep, Mitt Romney took first here too, though it was a lot closer than the others were.  Mitt was “the man” on 44% of the ballots, while Rick was it for 37% of the voters.  Ron Paul took third here with 11% and Newt was fourth with 6% of the vote.  Mitt has been awarded 30 delegates, while Rick received 6. Romney’s Super-Pac Issues Misleading Ads in Wisconson

The Super-Pac “Restore Our Future” has begun airing a new ad in Wisconson in denigration of Rick Santorum, not in support of anything Mitt Romney has done.   The ad in question shows Rick Santorum speaking from behind a microphone, saying “I don’t care what the unemployment rate is going to be.”  On the surface it sounds pretty bad and here is the ad so you can hear it for yourself.

Now, the real problem with the ad is that these words are taken completely out of context and do NOT mean what the ad leads you to believe.  The second part of the statement in question is “My campaign doesn’t hinge on unemployment rates and growth rates. There’s something more foundational that’s going on here.” (more…)

Rick Santorum Likes Louisiana’s Final Numbers

Hi and here we are with the numbers that I’m sure Rick Santorum likes!

With 99% of the precincts reporting and a little over 182,000 votes tallied, Rick Santorum wins with 91,305 votes and 49% of the total.  Mitt Romney came in second, with 49,749 or 27%.  Newt Gingrich was next with 29,665 and 16% of the total votes. Ron Paul came in fourth with 11,460 and 6% of the total votes. (more…)

Louisiana Belongs to Rick Santorum!

I’m going way out on a limb here and predicting that Rick Santorum is going to win the Louisiana primary election today.

With 60% of the precincts reporting, Santorum has received 49% of the vote and has a 23% lead over Mitt Romney.  Newt Gingrich has garnered 17% of the vote and Ron Paul has 6%.  So, with such a large lead, we here at AmericasNextPresident.com are projecting Rick Santorum to be the winner in Louisiana tonight. Illinois belongs to Romney!

The State of Illinois held their 2012 primary elections on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 and believe it or not, Mitt Romney won the lion’s share of the vote for Republican delegates, with 46.7% (430,535 votes) vs. 35% (322,831 votes) for Rick Santorum, allowing Mitt to add to his delegate lead.  Ron Paul received 85,872 votes, which equates to 9.3% of the vote and Newt Gingrich garnered 73,362 or roughly 8% of the vote.

This now gives Romney 552 delegates and Rick Santorum now has 249 delegates.  A lead of slightly over 300 with only 1279 delegates left to be awarded.  That would seem to indicate that Mitt Romney is now the odds on favorite to win the Republican nomination to represent the party in the November 2012 Presidential Election.  The battle is even more of an uphill one for both Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul.  (more…)

Romney adds 20 more delegates

On Sunday, March 18, 2012, Mitt Romney added another 20 delegates to his count and increased his lead heading into the Illinois and Louisiana primaries later this week.  Mitt was able to garner nearly 83% of the vote in Puerto Rico to be awarded all 20 delegates that Puert0 Rico has to offer.

As of today, Mitt has 489 delegates to Santorums 237.  Newt Gingrich now has 134 and Ron Paul has 69 delegates.  These numbers are the “pledged” delegates only.  The lead is increasing for Mitt Romney and if it keeps going like this, he just might wrap up the nomination in late June or early July.   At that point he could (and should) really launch into full campaign mode for the 2012 Presidential Election and the race for the White House.
