U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said “Global trends and world events have given us a full and formidable agenda, the stakes are high for all of us.”
I definitely agree with Secretary Clinton, trends and stakes are high in this day and age. But really, how did we get here? Is another government meeting going to solve, or even help in the long run? Will these kinds of things help Obama to get re-elected in the 2012 Presidential Election, or is this just more travel and camera time for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton?
This was said while discussing the upcoming Apec meetings in Hawaii with Japan trying to join the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) to expand trade and business within their own economy, while ostensibly helping all those already in the TPP. More can be found about the TPP at their website.
U.S. President Barack Obama will host the “party” in Honolulu over the weekend. Currently the TPP is made up of 9 countries, which are, Australia, Brunei, Chile, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States and Viet Nam. What do you think? Should Americas Next President be spending his time, and our money, flying on Air Force One from Washington D.C. to Honolulu to host a trade meeting for a weekend, or should he or she stay in Washington to oversee the executive branch? Can we continue to afford this kind of government travel, or do you believe in today’s world, it’s mandatory for government officials to do these kinds of things?
